Frequently Asked Questions About Invisalign®

+Is Invisalign® suitable for everyone?
Most mild to moderate crowding, spacing, protrusion and minor bite problems can be treated with Invisalign®. For severe bite or skeletal problems, Dr Sin Ting Chui may combine clear aligners with fixed braces or a functional appliance to get the best outcome.
+Will aligners affect my speech or eating?
You may notice a slight awkwardness for the first few days, but people adapt quickly. Aligners come out for meals, so there are no food restrictions — considerably fewer lifestyle limits than traditional braces.
+How long does Invisalign® treatment take?
It depends on your starting position — typically 12 to 24 months. Minor alignment issues can finish in 6 to 9 months. We give you a personalised estimate at your first consultation.
+Do I really need to wear them 22 hours a day?
Yes. We recommend 20 to 22 hours a day, removing them only to eat and brush. Consistent wear is the single biggest factor in getting the result you want on schedule.
+Does Invisalign® hurt?
Invisalign® uses gentle, gradual force, so it is generally more comfortable than fixed braces. You may feel mild pressure for the first day or two after changing to a new aligner. This usually settles within a few days.
+How does Invisalign® compare with traditional braces?
Invisalign® has no wires or brackets, is easy to clean and is barely visible — which suits working adults, teenagers and anyone who is often in front of others. Traditional braces remain the better choice for complex or severe cases where more control is needed.
+What does it cost, and can I pay in instalments?
Cost depends on the complexity of your case. We provide a clear written quote and flexible payment plans, with all fees explained at your first consultation — no surprises later.
+Will I need a retainer afterwards?
Yes. Teeth can drift after treatment, and a retainer holds them in their new position. We make a retainer specifically for you and schedule review appointments to check long-term stability.

The Invisalign® process

Step 1 — Consultation and assessment

You meet one-on-one with Dr Chui to talk through how Invisalign® works, what it costs, how long it takes and whether it suits you. Your plan is built around your alignment, your bite and what you want to achieve.

Step 2 — 3D digital scan and treatment design

We use the iTero® digital scanner to capture a high-accuracy image of your teeth — no messy impressions. Dr Chui can then show you a simulation of your future smile on screen.

Step 3 — Your custom aligners

Every aligner is 3D printed by the official Invisalign® laboratory to match your teeth precisely.

Step 4 — Wear and monitor

Each aligner is worn for about one to two weeks, moving your teeth progressively toward their target position. We review your progress regularly and adjust the plan if needed.

Step 5 — Retention and long-term stability

When treatment finishes you receive a personalised retainer to hold your teeth in place and protect the result.
